Hey! I'm Justin Sansom
non-binary - he/she/they
ABOUT ME
Hey there! My name is Justin Sansom. I'm from Oak Park, Michigan and I'm a Capricorn sun, Virgo rising, & Pisces moon. I identify as Non-Binary and my pronouns are he/she/they. I'm an extroverted-introvert, very caring, and a diligent worker. In my spare time, I enjoy writing poetry & music, reading, binge-watching a good TV show, and playing with my dog Prince. I currently reside in Los Angeles, California.
MODELING
I was a model from 2013-2020 and I absolutely loved it. Modeling became a passion of mine over the years and was one of my main creative outlets at the time.
I began modeling in fashion shows. As time went on, I started networking with photographers in the Metro Detroit area and fell in love with print modeling. As a child, I struggled heavily with my identity and sexuality. I navigated through life never really knowing who I was for a long time. Though, modeling helped me express the creativity that I wasn't able to express in my youth.
I chose to go by the alias "Giovanni" as my alter ego when I was in front of the lens. When I was a kid, I always came up with nicknames or different identities for myself, as a way to escape my reality of being Justin. However, when I started really getting to know myself, I found a new appreciation for "Justin" and chose to embrace my birth-given name.
My goal with modeling was to continuously explore myself, conceptualize creative ideas for shoots, and to positively impact others with the confidence and motivation to be themselves.
GRAPHIC DESIGN
I'm a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing & Advertising. I've been a graphic designer since 2017. I didn't expect to work in this field after graduating... truthfully, I didn't know what type of career I wanted. Marketing didn't fulfill my interests anymore, but I continued to pursue my degree because of scholarships & the fear of starting over.
My first post-grad job was a marketing intern role at a small print and design firm; eventually, I taught myself how to use the Adobe applications and began designing. Then, I was hired as a project manager and gained a vast amount of experience in designing, printing & production, and consulting.
Then, I transitioned to Plante Moran, an accounting firm in the midwest. I sharpened my knowledge and skills while fulfilling a production designer role there for three years. It was my first corporate job, and I got a taste of benefits and work perks! I enjoyed my time there and all of my colleagues. Eventually, I realized the 9-5 life & my role didn't fulfill me enough to want to grow there.
Now, I'm a freelance CEO of JS Designs and have designed logos for Kraft Heinz and all of the marketing materials for The Creative Playground, in Downtown Detroit, Michigan.
